#ChoosetoChallenge : International Women's Day

28/2/2021

Dear BGS Members,

Our good friends at University of Auckland have invited us for a special and interactive seminar on International Women's Day! The theme for 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge. They’ve organised a panel of female academics, students and alumnae to share their thoughts on what the day means to them.

According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2020, New Zealand ranks 6th in the world for gender-equality, on economic, education, health and political criteria. However, we still lag behind when it comes to wage gaps between men and women, (38th in the world), and women in senior roles (26th in the world).

Join the University of Auckland Business School for an interactive lunchtime panel discussion this International Women’s Day, Monday 8 March, to hear from academics, students and alumnae. Come along and join the conversation.

Special Seminar: Investigating Psychological Reactions to Covid-19

5/10/2020

Picture
Dear BGS New Zealand and Australia Members,

Our friends at AUT have invited us all for a special seminar series - Investigating Psychological Reactions to Covid-19 by Chris Krageloh, Associate Professor, Psychology - Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, AUT.

While governments around the world continue to work out how best to tackle the health crisis brought about by COVID-19, research has also started to investigate what psychological reactions people may have to the pandemic. A number of questionnaires have been developed to assess pandemic-related aspects of anxiety and fear. Gradually, a clearer picture is emerging about the role of these variables in motivating relevant health-promoting behaviours. Specific challenges to mental health will also need to be addressed in future research.

Seminar Date: 7th October
Time: 11am - 12:15pm NZT; 8am Sydney time
