We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our speakers Harold Hillman, Teddy Liu, and Alan Hargreaves for supporting this new initiative. Special thanks to Christina Allrich from Beta Gamma Sigma for attending each of our events.

This event has won the BGS 2021 Best Alumni Chapter Activity Award. Huge congratulations to our NZ chapter and the two other alumni chapters (AU and HK)!

BGS Scholarship 2021 Winner!

The BGS NZ Alumni Committee heartily congratulates our member, Hilary Esterhuizen, for winning the Beta Gamma Sigma Scholarship towards her continued education.

Hilary is currently studying towards a Graduate Certificate in Business at AUT and is also completing papers for being a Chartered Accountant. It is her willingness to return back to studies as an adult student to achieve her passion that has helped her win the BGS scholarship award worth $500.

Scholarships represent one of Beta Gamma Sigma’s core values - to encourage continued learning. This scholarship is one small way in which we can contribute and help members further their studies. We thank BGS International for allowing the New Zealand Alumni Chapter to offer this opportunity for our members.

BGS NZ is also offering another scholarship worth $500 in February 2022, so please watch out for further information and application details.

Kind regards,
BGS NZ Alumni Committee Team

The Future of Work in Flux

12/6/2021

Good morning, BGS NZ members.

Our fantastic partner, AUT, in collaboration with Project Connect, has another great opportunity for 3 members to attend (for free) the next virtual/in-person event on the 7th of July and titled 'The Future of Work in Flux.'

A quick rundown of the speaker:
April Rinne is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and ranked one of the “50 Leading Female Futurists” in the world by Forbes. But she’s in Oregon. And y’know, international travel at the moment… So for our next Project Connect event, we’re bringing the international magic to the big screen!

For more information, click the link below

The last event was thought-provoking and inspiring. I'm sure this presentation by April will too.

If you are interested in attending, email me at alex@sigmoidcurve.com with your name and contact details ASAP because seating is limited.

Project CONNECT

9/6/2021

A big thanks to #AUTuni for securing a number of free tickets to the recent Project Connect event entitled 'Driving the Next Wave of Kiwi Business Innovation and Investment.'

It was an awesome session with candid ideas and opinions being shared by the top business minds from around the globe. What made this session stand out was the caliber of presenters. While it was about Kiwi business innovation, the speakers, due to COVID, were mainly from the USA. In fact, one just exited (sold) out of a business for 1.5 billion dollars (USD) and one came up with the idea for the image above the search bar on the Google home page.

Again, thanks AUT for being a great partner of BGS. We had a fantastic time (drinks and nibbles are always good), and look forward to future events!

Member Spotlight - May 2021

3/5/2021

Good morning, BGS NZ members!

Last year, we introduced the BGS Member Spotlight initiative. An initiative to share the stories of our members living in NZ and abroad. The Member Spotlight last year was in the form of articles. Then COVID hit and pulled energy and resource from being able to publish those articles on a regular basis. This year, we are returning, and as with many things, we are now sharing member stories in the format of Zoom conversations.

With this first Member Spotlight video, April Shwe-Paul talks with Mark Barboza, a passionate New Zealander currently based in Toronto. Having traveled the world and progressed his corporate career in PwC, Mark shares some of his perspectives on work, life, and continual learning.

A big thanks to Mark for taking the time to share his story with us, the BGS NZ community.

If you would like to share your story on Member Spotlight, email us at bgsnewzealand@gmail.com.

New Zealand Capital Markets Symposium 2021

29/4/2021

Dear BGS Members,

Our friends at AUT have invited us for another spectacular event - 'New Zealand Capital Markets Symposium 2021'. Entry to all BGS members is free!

AUT cordially invite BGS members to attend the NZCMS 2021 at AUT City Campus, WA224 on 10 June 2021, from 12 noon to around 6 pm.

One of the key objectives at the Auckland Centre for Financial Research is to bridge the gap between academia and the finance industry in New Zealand by engaging in debate, discussion and research that is relevant to New Zealand. To achieve this objective AUT hosts the New Zealand Capital Markets Symposium, aimed at bringing together academics and industry practitioners to discuss the current issues in financial markets, regulations, corporate governance, climate change risk, fraud, etc. in New Zealand.

Please see the attached programme or links for more information.
